Modern Contemporary Wedding in the Heart of Downtown Calgary

Above is the beautiful Wedding Slideshow that came with Jaclyn and Scott’s wedding package. It was created from a selection of their best photos captured on their special day, mixed to their weddings song Tessellate the Alt-J Cover by Ellie Goulding.

Jaclyn & Scott Getting Ready

Their wedding day started out in two different rooms at the Sheraton. In the guys room they were getting and this was the first time we got to see the special Lego box that Scott had built with his nephew Liam. This well crafted box had some very precious cargo as it housed the ring that Liam carried down the aisle later that day. After a couple quick photos we were off to one of the Signature Honeymoon suites to meet up with the Bride and her Bridesmaids. While Jaclyn put on the last few finishing touches there was definitely a lot of emotion in the room as her incredible look for the day came together. With everyone looking amazing we did a couple hallway shots and then were were off to the first look.

A First Look to Remember

Their first look was staged on top of a private balcony that over looked the entire downtown core. Have all those amazing building surrounding the couple really added to the modern feel of their photos. When the guys all turned around they were all struck by Jaclyn’s beauty. Everyone had a few moments to take it all in and then Jaclyn had a surprise gift for Scott. It was an elegant watch that left him speechless. We then shifted gears to capture some of their family photos before heading out into the downtown core for their formal photos.

The Creative Formals on the Edge of the Downtown Core

The day before their wedding, there were very heavy rains so it made for such a perfect temperature on their wedding day. The downtown Calgary core has so many fantastic textures that there was an almost pallet of options for their wedding photos. One the way back we even had an opportunity to re-create an abby road kind of photo with the entire wedding party.

Their Ceremony at the Sheraton Suites Eau Claire

The wedding ceremony was lead by Marriage Commissioner Maureen Roberts and as imagined by Flora Lo the wedding coordinator with the Sheraton Suites Eau Claire. One of my favourite parts of the ceremony was near the end where Jaclyn and Scott both presented two metal roses (hand made by the groom himself) to both of their mothers. This was to thank them for raising them with the knowledge a tools to build a successful life together in marriage. Finally just before they walked down the they smashed a glass under their feet and everyone yelled “Mazel Tov”

The Scheffelmaier Reception at Sheraton Suites Eau Claire

With the Ceremony behind us we were back outside for a couple more quick family photos just outside the hotel. Once that was finished the guest all enjoyed some tasty cocktails while the Flora and her team got to work converting the ceremony hall over to their reception room. Flora and her team were absolutely amazing to work with and all the Decor for the day was provided by Shannon Collins owner of Chair Flair (http://chairflair.ca). The reception, decor and food were all amazing and the night was finished off with the sounds of Chris with Revolution DJ’s (http://revolutiondj.com)
