The Bullock’s Wedding at Calgary’s Blue Devil Golf Club

A Breezy Day Made for Beautiful Windswept Photos

Above is the beautiful Wedding Slideshow that came with Brittany and Mike’s wedding package. It was created from a selection of their best photos captured on their special day, mixed to their weddings song Giving it all by Haley and Michaels.

Brittany & Mike’s First Look

The day started with Mike and his groomsmen at the bottom of a hill in a lovely valley that backs onto the Bow River. They stood under a beautiful tree waiting patiently for the bride to arrive, and we snapped some shots of them as they waited.

When Brittany walked over the ridge and into the breezy valley, Mike saw her for the first time. His expression was timeless. The moment was incredibly magical and we were happy to be there to witness and photograph it. With the breeze came beautiful windswept shots of the happy couple.

The Creative Formals along the Bow River

We moved right into the creative formals from there, and unfortunately had to reset all of the locations because of the wind. Happily in the end we managed to get some amazing shots. We found a small alcove of trees which provided shelter from the weather. These ended up creating a wonderful backdrop on which to shoot the creative photos of the bride, groom and wedding party.

Their Ceremony at the Blue Devil Golf Course

After the creative formals were finished we moved across the river to the Blue Devil Golf course for the ceremony. The ceremony itself was set on a beautiful veranda with dramatic sweeping views of the course. Through out the day we worked with Parfait Modern Wedding Films, who provided the videography for the wedding. They were fantastic to work with, and together we got some absolutely incredible shots despite the wind not letting up. Brittany and Mike exchanged their vows as the sun was getting ready to set in the distance, which created an especially charming setting for their ceremony. The entire outdoor segment of the wedding was wonderful, the clear skies and beautiful vistas only serving to enhance the moment.

We followed the ceremony with formal family photos at the same site.

The Bullock Reception at the Blue Devil Golf Course

The reception was held inside one of the banquet halls at the Blue Devil Golf Course. The décor was wonderfully rustic, featuring sunflowers, wood, and burlap accents. Two tall marquee letters in the shape of a B and an M were lit up, a wonderful detail that really stood out. A few of their more personal touches came through during the reception as well, including a Vancouver Canucks themed garter worn by Brittany!

Instead of a more traditional cake cutting, Brittany and Mike opted for a more personal pie cutting, featuring a one of a kind display of different pies. The pie that they cut included a large letter B, which stands for Bullock. These wonderful pies were made by Pies Plus Café in Calgary. It was a very unique take on the traditional cake cutting ceremony.

The dance followed the pie cutting, and it was an incredible opportunity to take some wonderful photos of the newly married couple. A cut out was set over the lights, casting some beautiful shapes on the dance floor. Along to music by DJ Robe with Quests End, the guests and the new bride and groom proceeded to dance the night away!
