An Airy Autumn Wedding

The Dagenais wedding began on a beautiful sunny day in Eau Claire. We met the groom Jason outside of the Q Haute Cuisine restaurant where the ceremony would take place. While Janet, the lovely bride, was off having her hair and makeup done by Andrea from Curious Hair Skin Body in Tuscany, we began taking establishing shots. The river valley looked absolutely amazing, the sun and fall colours almost electric in the crisp air.

Jason and Janet chose this special spot at Q Haute Cuisine, because it is where he proposed to her. The restaurant sits at the edge of the Bow River Valley, and features fine dining and a seasonal French menu. In Eau Claire Park, in front of the restaurant, there is a beautiful shady spot, featuring a low stone wall and is surrounded by trees. The Dagenais’ chose this spot for their ceremony. The wedding was small and intimate, the guest list just family and close friends.

The sound of a solo guitar plucked up, and the ceremony began under the shade of the autumn trees. Janet walked up in the aisle in her dress from Sunshine Bridal, carrying the beautiful autumn bouquet from Best of Buds. The dimes are representative of Janet’s late father, so they hold special significance to her. It was such a beautiful gesture, and the moment wasn’t without a few tears.
The sweet ceremony was officiated by Judy Wiltse of Vows by Judy. Janet and Jason’s adorable son Xavier really wanted to be with his parents, so Jason held him throughout the ceremony.

The Creative Formals in Prince’s Island Park

After the ceremony, we headed along the Bow River Valley Pathway, where we took photos of everyone. The lighting was beautiful and soft, and really complimented the soft and airy style of the wedding. We then split off from the group and took the newlyweds into a gorgeous leaf strewn enclave to take their creative formals. Because Janet is expecting, we even incorporated a few ‘maternity style’ shots into the session! The soft golden leaves and the gentle light through the trees really made the setting perfect for their pictures. We headed over the water’s edge for a few shots next to the still river, and then headed back into the red and gold leaves. We finished the shoot with the couple walking off into the glowing sunset.
