The Jimenez-Lizama’s Mountain Wedding at Silvertip Resort in Canmore

Their Ceremony Under the Silvertip Golf Course Gazebo

We met up with Gueli and Alejandra on the afternoon of their wedding at the Silvertip Golf Course in Canmore. The grounds at Silvertip Resort are gorgeous, with sweeping views of the valley below the Three Sisters mountain range. Despite the wildfire smoke in the area, the views were incredible, with a bright orange sun blazing away over the Rockies. Mother Nature did not disappoint.

The guests were seated in front of the beautiful gazebo on the ridge, ready to witness the marriage of Alejandra and Gueli. Pastor Trevor, from Gueli’s church in Calgary, officiated the ceremony. He led a beautiful service, speaking about the importance of God, and God’s role in their lives. The ceremony was perfectly tailored to Alejandra and Gueli and highlighted the significance of the lifelong commitment they are making to each other.

Alejandra hails from El Salvador, and Gueli is from Mexico, so their families travelled up for the wedding. The entire service, therefore, was translated into Spanish by their friend Oscar so everyone could be part of the ceremony.

We followed the ceremony with family photos, taking our time to photograph everyone in an array of groupings. It was evident throughout the family photos that both Gueli and Alejandra share deep connections with their families, and will carry this into their new life together. We wrapped up the family session with a few shots of Alejandro’s new baby brother Caleb.

The Creative Formals at Silvertip Golf Course

Then it was on to the formals. We moved around the grounds at Silvertip, using the gazebo and their endless, jaw-dropping lookout points for the shots. The newlyweds wandered the golf cart path that winds through the manicured course, and we photographed the two, hand in hand.

Down at Quarry Lake Park

After wrapping up the shots at the Silvertip Resort, we deliberated on heading down to the lake. Because of the sky conditions, we worried that the lake and Three Sisters Mountain Range would be entirely obscured by smoke. However, we took the chance, and ultimately, it paid off.

We were greeted to the mountains in all their splendour, the lingering smoke doing wonders and creating a beautiful hazy sky, full of depth. The sun was hovering in an orange-red glow, reflecting across the ripples in the lake. We photographed the happy couple beside the water and took a few shots behind Alejandra’s veil.

We walked along the ridge for a few more photos of the mountains and lake, before heading back up to the reception. In the Stony Plains Ballroom at the Silvertip Resort and Golf Course, the wedding guests were treated to a wonderful buffet dinner. We then said our farewells to the Jimenez-Lizama party and left them to enjoy the rest of their evening.
