A Sunlit Winter Wedding

Above is the beautiful Wedding Slideshow that came with Therese and Steve’s wedding package. It was created from a selection of their best photos captured on their special day, mixed to Alleluias Dancing (Instrumental) by Stanton Lanier.

Therese and Steve Getting Ready

Early in the morning we met Steve at the chapel. He was getting ready in a room off to the side with Therese’s two sons Anthony and Hayden, who were also functioning as his groomsmen. While we were with them we got some great shots of his shoes, ring, and other details before we headed up to photograph Therese.

While Therese was getting ready we were so fortunate to have a room with plenty of natural light, because the sun began peeking over the hill as we started to photograph her. We took some lovely shots of her having her hair and makeup done by Christine Kemp with Modern Makeovers. Therese’s daughter Courtney and her bridesmaid Paige were there to spend these magical moments with their mother. We took a few shots of the details here too, including Therese’s beautiful bracelet and amazing red shoes!

Therese and Steve’s First Look

Their first look took place in the poinsettia lined stairwell at the chapel. The morning sun beamed on them through the large windows as they saw each other for the first time.

Afterward the ceremony, the whole family met us at Prince’s Island Park for some family group shots. Even though it was -12C, everyone toughed it out for the family photos.

Because the inside of the chapel had a no photography policy, we waited outside while Therese and Steve were married the Bishop of the 17th ave ward. We got great shots of them and their wedding party before they entered, and a few photos of Steve and Therese emerging as the new Mr. and Mrs. Devan!

We took the opportunity to use the relief society room to re-stage the ceremonies major details, such as the crowd, the ring exchange, their first kiss, and their recessional. Again, this room was bathed in beautiful natural light, and we took full advantage of it.

Their Creative Formals at Prince’s Island Park

We then accompanied the whole family to the River Café in Prince’s Island Park to take the formal photos. Joined by their children and wedding party, we took some photos of the newlyweds in front of the café, and had a lot of fun doing so.

The next location was a snow covered river that was frozen enough to walk on. Therese and Steve were such great sports about the cold, and she even suggested making snow angels! With the light bouncing off of downtown Calgary serving as a backdrop, we took some beautiful photographs of Therese and Steve on the snowy river.

Inside of the beautiful window lined River Café the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed an amazing meal catered by the café’s passionate chefs. The cake cutting followed dinner, and the impressive cake was supplied by Therese’s very own, very talented sister.

We decided to get Therese and Steve out into the cold one final time to take some shots out in the snow. They continued to be gracious sports about the temperature, and we even managed to snap a few photos of Therese sliding around on the ice.

It was a beautiful ending to a wonderful and elegant winter wedding.
