A Surprising Sunday Proposal
Fake Arrest Proposal by Absolutely Proposals & Romantic Events
The romantic event planning for this proposal was taken on by the talented team over at Absolutely Proposals. On Sunday, April 2nd, we got up bright and early to meet up with Absolutely Proposals & Romantic Events. This new company specializes in creating unforgettable custom proposals, and we’ve partnered with them to create a one-of-a-kind proposal experience. The founders, Caleigh and Ali, met with us and the soon-to-be fiancé Ravi. Ravi had used the excuse of taking the dog for a walk to pop outside to meet with us. We talked through the surprise proposal he planned for his girlfriend Roxana, and then it was time to get ready!
The shoot was scheduled for 9 am, so as the minutes inched closer, we took our hiding spot behind a large evergreen tree. The videography team from Through the Lens each hid in a different car to capture the moment from several angles.
Ravi headed upstairs, and a few minutes later he emerged from the apartment complex with Roxana, under the guise of heading to the spa. As they were exiting, a police cruiser pulled up, and out hopped the officer. He approached Ravi and Roxana, asking if they’d heard any arguments that morning. He asked what floor they lived on, to which they answered, “Four”.
He grabbed their id’s to double check that there were no records, and upon returning, promptly gave Ravi’s back. When it came to Roxana, he hesitated, citing several unpaid tickets and a failure to show up in court. Roxana was stunned. While she stood at the building’s entrance, we got a chance to get some great shots of her expression.
The officer went back to his car, and upon returning, he told her he could print her a new ticket. She wouldn’t be under arrest if she could attend to the ticket right away. As he handed it to her, he proclaimed, “This is for stealing Ravi’s heart”.
Roxana looked a little confused as she stared at the ticket. Meanwhile, behind her, Ravi got down on one knee, and lightly tapped her on the shoulder. The only way to describe her expression when she turned around is: absolutely flabbergasted. After a few tears and one huge hug later, we jumped into the scene and photographed the newly engaged couple. Once the tears had dried, we offered to take a few photos before they began their day, to which they happily agreed. Roxana ran upstairs to tidy her makeup before we began.
We started with the couple and the clever police officer and then re-staged the proposal. Around the corner, a limo waited, so we snapped pictures of the happy couple in front of the vehicle, showing off the shiny new ring. By 9:30 am, the proposal was all wrapped up! It was such an incredible moment, and we are thrilled to have been a part of it! Congratulations Ravi and Roxana!
