The Moravec’s Wedding at Calgary’s Sirocco Golf Club
A Fun Filled Wedding at Sirocco Golf Club
Jordan and the Guys Getting Ready
The Guys Getting Ready at South Trail Crossing Barbershop
We started out at the South Trail Crossing Barbershop at 9 am, where we met our groom Jordan and his groomsmen. This new barbershop is traditionally styled and trendy: a place where you can go to get a straight blade shave while watching the many TVs around the room. All the groomsmen got their hair done here, and some even had a shave or a beard trim and style. One of the groomsmen had long hair, and he cut it all off for the wedding! The barbershop lent a fun vibe to the morning.
We took a bit of a break until the afternoon, where we rejoined the guys at 1 o’clock back at Kelsie and Jordan’s house. We photographed him opening the gift of a beautiful watch from his bride to be. Jordan then gifted his groomsmen with their very own pocket watches.
Kelsie and the Girls Getting Ready
We then headed off to the Maid of Honour Candis’ house, over in Auburn Bay. The videographer Megan with Cinderwood Photography met us there.
The girls already had their hair done when we arrived, since they had gone to the Shag Salon earlier that day. While Michelle with Trena Laine was doing the makeup, we headed into the living room to take some shots of the details.
First, we brought out a huge ladder and hung Kelsie’s gorgeous Sophia Tolli dress from the living room chandelier. We moved the furniture so we could get a clear shot with the light streaming through the windows. We then photographed her gorgeous ring and her shoes. Her ring was quite unique. A groove is set into the wedding band where her engagement ring can sit perfectly.
We shot some of the final touches to the makeup, and then her mother helped her into her dress. We got some incredible shots of the intricate detail and fabulous train on the dress. Candis then helped Kelsie with her necklace; the final touch before we headed out.
Kelsie and Her Father’s First Look
Downstairs, her dad was waiting to catch a first look of the bride. He was wearing a kilt and sporran that had a very cute story behind it. Back when Kelsie was 14, she won a Celtic dance competition. The prize was a Scottish kilt and sporran, and knowing she would never wear it, gave it to her dad. He too questioned when he would wear it, and her response was: My Wedding.
Her father stood looking out a window while she came down the stairs, and once she walked up behind him, she gave him a little tap on the shoulder. We love doing these first looks with fathers. There is something so touching about a father seeing his daughter on her wedding day for the first time.
Kelsie then sat down to open gifts. Jordan gave her a cute t-shirt with the word “Wifey” across it. He also gifted her with a beautiful new initials pendant, replacing the original necklace of her maiden name initials.
Their Ceremony at Sirocco Golf Club
On our way to the ceremony location we were met with a rather impressive storm cell, the dramatic dark clouds stretching into the horizon. We even saw a few storm chasers looking for a tornado! Because of the weather the ceremony began a little late. The lovely staff at Sirocco were incredibly gracious, making sure everyone was comfortable with a glass of champagne. Sirocco Golf Club is a premier wedding destination in Calgary, and offers both indoor and outdoor locations. The outdoor location that the Moravec’s chose is stunning; rolling prairie hills and distant Rockies as far as the eye can see.
Thankfully, the raincloud finally diverted. Then, the sun came out, blazing hot for the ceremony! The ceremony was beautiful, the arch a simple rustic wood adorned with Flowers by Janie. It was a quick and simple ceremony, and officiant Judy Wiltse with Vows by Judy, did a beautiful job.
Kelsie and Jordan had a couple of unbelievably cute flower girls kick off the ceremony, both holding hands and a bunch of balloons. We did a few shots with them before the family photos, and then headed out to take the creative formals.
The Creative Formals at Sirocco Golf Course
After the family photos we went out for the creative formals. We did some shots of the group along the open road leading to the golf course. We then split into two groups, the groomsmen and bridesmaids in one, and the bride, groom, maid of honor, and best man in the other. We headed down into a gully, and got some fun shots of the wedding party, and some gorgeous ones of the newlyweds against the dramatic sky.
We were mindful of dinner, so we decided to split the formals into two sessions, and saved the rest of the shots until after the meal.
The Moravec Reception at Sirocco Golf Club
The Dinner Provided by The Talented Culinary Staff at Sirocco Golf Club
We sat down to eat the phenomenal meal catered by Sirocco. The meal was plated, and was absolutely amazing. They had chicken, beef, salmon, and even a vegetarian option for the main. Sides included a brilliant potato soup, steamed veggies, and quinoa.
After dinner we moved into speeches. Her parents, his parents, and her godparents all had touching speeches prepared. Afterwards, the newlyweds wanted to catch the sunset, so we dashed outside into the open fields. When we arrived the sun was right on the edge of the horizon. We got some amazing shots of the couple and finished off the shots we hadn’t managed to get before dinner.
Cutting The Cake Created By Whippt Desserts & Catering Inc.
After the last of the formals we headed in for the cake cutting. Alison LaFrance with Whippt Desserts & Catering made a plethora of beautiful and delicious cakes, which guests were eager to try. The Maid of Honour and the Best Man rounded out the formal part of the evening with a few speeches of their own followed by a slideshow.
Dancing The Night Away to The Sounds of The Two Bit Bandits
The dance began right away after that, with the Two Bit Bandits and their wonderful repertoire. The party continued into the night, paused only briefly for a bite at the midnight lunch poutine bar!
