A Sunny Wedding at the Gorgeous Oasis Centre

Their Ceremony at the Oasis Centre

We began the day at the incredible Oasis Centre in Northwest Edmonton. The gorgeous ‘jewel of the west end’ is one of the nicest venues in the city. We were given a tour of the grounds before heading into the epic ballroom in time for the ceremony. We took some shots of the beautiful details in the room, the settings, and the gorgeous pillars. The Oasis Centre is home to an absolutely phenomenal space. It is impressive yet intimate, with beautiful lighting, high ceilings, and gold drapery.

Jeff and Jenn had a beautiful ceremony, complete with a reading from his mother. Near the end of the ceremony they each were give a white rose from the precious flower girls. They exchanged the flowers, and the officiant explained what they roses symbolized. Each rose was the same, and their love would not change. The years they had spent together showed that they had made a commitment to each other. The wedding didn’t change anything, it only made it official. It would not change how they feel about each other.

The Family Photos in the Oasis Centre’s Back Garden

After the ceremony we exited into the gorgeous back garden. The private garden with its ponds and waterfalls really gives you the feeling that you are somewhere else. We took the family to the beautiful water pond, where we staged the family photos.

The Creative Formals at the Alberta Legislature

A limo pulled up as we were finishing the family shots. The wedding party jumped in and headed off to the historic Alberta Legislature for their creative formals. The Legislature is an iconic building in Edmonton, with beautiful pillars and 23 hectares of gorgeous green parks. The classical architecture stands out as one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Edmontonians affectionately refer to it as the ‘Leg’ (pronounced: ledge).

The lighting at the Legislature was perfect. The fountains in front of the legislature were empty that day, and we took advantage of it. We were able to get some shots of the couple standing directly in the center, the towering Legislature building behind them. We took some photos in the shaded trees surrounding the building. Then we headed right up onto the steps, capturing the newlyweds framed by the epic Greek columns.

The Dinner provided by the talented culinary staff at the Oasis Centre

We returned to the Oasis Centre for the reception, where the chefs prepared an extraordinary meal. The fantastic catering included chicken and meatballs, mashed potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms.

Dinner was followed by several touching and incredible speeches. Throughout the speeches it was clear to see how much everyone really cares about Jeff and Jenn. The speeches were followed by a beautiful slideshow of the two of them growing up.

Cutting the cake created by The Art of Cake

The cake cutting took place next, with an absolutely beautiful multi-layered cake created by Gloria Hees with The Art of Cake. The newlyweds then played the classic shoe matching game to round off the first part of the evening.

Dancing the night away to the sounds of Black Board Jungle

The first dance was beautiful, and midway through both sets of parents joined them on the dance floor. Once the formal dances ended, a live band took over. They put on a great show, with an impressive set list.

At the end of the first set, we took the newlyweds out into the beautiful Oasis Centre gardens. At night, the centre lights the gardens up with beautiful soft lights throughout. We set up a few complimentary flashes and photographed the couple, to great effect. We got some gorgeous shots of the newlyweds under an umbrella, glowing with the background lights.
