A Gorgeous Evening Engagement Shoot at Shouldice Athletic Park and Weaselled Natural Area

Jummy and Kunle’s Engagement Session at Hellard Field

We met Jummy and Kunle in the early evening for their engagement session. The shoot started off at Hellard Field in Shouldice Athletic Park, a sporting hot-spot in Northwest Calgary. The lines on the artificial turf were crisp and white, so we started the shoot at the edge of the brilliant green field.

It was clear upon meeting the pair that they love soccer. Jummy and Kunle are avid Chelsea FC fans, a club based in London with a long and storied history. For their session they wore matching Chelsea jerseys, their names (Mr. & Mrs. Doks) and wedding date printed on the backs. For an added touch, we brought out a FIFA football to feature as a prop.

After taking some great shots on the field we headed under the bleachers, using the metal framework as a backdrop. At this point the sun was shining underneath the stands, lighting the couple in a warm glow.

We rounded out the shots at Hellard Field as the light began to fade. Up in the stands, we photographed the couple. The last few shots are of Mr. & Mrs. Doks in their matching jerseys, sitting side by side.

Jummy’s Engagement Ring

While Jummy and Kunle changed into their second outfits, we took several shots of her gorgeous engagement ring. To highlight the ring we used the natural surroundings, her diamond framed ring resting in spruce boughs and branches.

Sunset at the Weaselhead Natural Area

From the soccer field we hopped in the car and headed southwest to the Weaselhead natural area. This park contains 237 hectares of natural land, and sits just beside North Glenmore Park and the Elbow River. From the parking lot there are endless views of green trees, and when the sun is just right you can see mountains in the distance.

The second set of shots had a much more formal feel. Jummy wore a gorgeous silver evening gown, and Kunle a sharp burgundy sport coat and bow tie. The formal wear and the perfect sunset set the tone wonderfully. We captured incredible photos at the edge of the valley, the sun going down in the distance.

After the sun was beyond the horizon, the couple changed once more, this time into outfits that complimented the spring season. We headed into the woods, where we set up lighting to compliment the fiery red sky. It was a stunning conclusion to a seamless evening engagement session.
