The Ronnie’s Wedding at Calgary’s Carriage House Inn

A Modern Contemporary Wedding Day

Amy Getting Ready Getting Ready in The Honeymoon Suite at Carriage House Inn

We began the day at the Carriage House Inn in South Calgary, where we headed upstairs to meet with the bride, Amy. Accompanying her was her twin sister Jennifer and husband Graham, along with their two daughters Lena and Hannah. Hannah served as a bridesmaid, and Lena as flower girl and junior bridesmaid.

The first shots of the day were of Amy’s delicately airy dress, designed by Melissa Sweet and purchased at David’s Bridal. We hung the dress between the two barn style doors leading to the master bedroom. The lighting from the rear window illuminated the dress and highlighted the silhouettes of Amy and her sister.

The fantastic Christina Kemp of Modern Makeovers was there to take care of hair and makeup. While the women were getting ready we took a few shots of the bouquet and rings. We also captured the detail of the beautiful memorial pendant attached to the flowers.

The First Look

Amy had a first look with her nieces. Behind the barn doors Jennifer helped Amy into her wedding gown. Then the barn doors opened and the nieces got to see her in her dress for the very first time.

Framed by the window, Amy gifted each of her nieces with a necklace as a thank you gift for being such a big part of her day. It was a special moment. Amy’s dad entered the room, and saw her for the first time. In a touching moment she pinned on his boutonniere, and the two shared a hug before heading down to the ceremony.

Their Ceremony at Carriage House Inn

Next it was downstairs to the ceremony in the Desert Palm Room at the Carriage House Inn. The groom waited, wearing his Superman pendant cufflinks. The running joke of the evening touched on the rivalry between the best man, who likes Batman, and the groom, who is a Superman fan.

The ceremony began, and everyone entered into the ballroom. The ceremony was lovely, officiated by Bruce Halliday. Towards the end of the ceremony, the couple chose to finish with a hand fasting. This traditional ceremony dates back to the time of ancient Celts. In it, the couples’ hands are tied together by cord or rope, and this symbol serves as a visual and physical representation of the marriage vows.
After the ceremony we moved right into the family formals.

The Creative Formals at London Square and Carriage House Inn

Once the family formals wrapped up, we headed down the street to London Square by the Heritage-Dominion Tower for the creative formals.

We found a gritty stairwell to stage dynamic shots of the newlyweds with their wedding party. Among the photos we took were a couple images of the ‘zombie’ socks that the men were wearing! We used the buildings around London Square for a few more shots of the bride and groom, including a few of Amy’s whimsical print shoes! The sky was threatening rain, so we moved into a nearby parking garage for a few photos with a modern feel.

We then headed back to the Carriage House Inn, taking fun photographs with nieces Hannah and Lena and the formal photos were rounded out the shoot with the wedding party and the newlyweds in the hotel.

The Ronnie Reception at Carriage House Inn

The Dinner Provided by The Talented Culinary Staff at Carriage House Inn

The reception began with a wonderful buffet dinner followed by several touching speeches. A lovely dessert buffet accompanied dinner, featuring a variety of sweets including chocolate covered strawberries. Next to the head table was a cupcake display, complete with a topper cake for cutting.

The reception was decorated in the wedding colors, fuchsia and light grey, in modern contemporary style. Each of the guests received a wedding favor, a bottle opener stating the names of the newlyweds. The openers were in the shape of a beer bottle, and because Amy and Aaron like their beer, this favor was appropriate. Even their engagement session centered on beer, which was shot at the Craft Beer Market in Calgary!

Dancing The Night Away to The Sounds of Tony Maggipinto With Affordable DJ Services

The dance party started early, and lasted well into the night. We took a lot of wonderful shots of the dance itself. Amy and Aaron’s first dance was to the slow ballad “Kiss Me” by Ed Sheeran.

Tony Maggipinto with Affordable DJ Services knew how to get the party going. Everybody was up on their feet, and he kept them there, playing everything from oldies rock to 90s dance music.

Online Gallery

An online gallery of all their images is available for the next 30 days. From the online gallery you are able to favourite images, order prints and share the gallery with your family and friends. The gallery can be accessed via the link below and you can contact Amy and Aaron directly for their secure password.

The Ronnie Wedding Day Slideshow

Above is the beautiful Wedding Slideshow that came with Amy and Aaron’s wedding package. It was created from a selection of their best photos captured on their special day, mixed to their wedding song Kiss Me by Ed Sheeren.

We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to share Amy and Aaron’s special day with them and we wish them many years of happiness together.
