The Tate’s Wedding at Azuridge Estate Hotel

A Stormy Day at Azuridge Estate Hotel

Jade and Mike Getting Ready

The Guys Getting Ready in The Tiger’s Eye Den at The Emerald Manor Guest House

Situated on 13 acres of beautiful estate, the Azuridge Estate Hotel provided the perfect setting for the elegant Tate wedding. We started the day with the guys in the Tiger’s Eye Den at the Emerald Manor Guest House. In the den we held a ‘Mad Men’ inspired shoot in front of the decadent brick fire place. The concierge staff brought over whisky for each of the guys to top off the shoot. The setting lent to a high class air to the photos.

The banquet and catering manager filled us in on some of the history and qualities of the hotel. Azuridge is one of the only estate hotels in the country, and it is touted as one of the finest hidden gems in the foothills of the Rockies. It began as a sprawling home before eventually converting to a hotel.

The main building, Sapphire Hall, hosts an immaculate master suite. It features a stunning loft bedroom that opens onto a deck overlooking the gorgeous valley. Behind the room there are billiards and a private bathroom to finish off the amazing space. It was in the master suite that we met with the bride and her bridal party.

The Girls Getting Ready in The Signature Rhodochrosite Suite

The girls shoot began with hair and makeup. The talented Michelle Suffolk-Walsh of Michelle Suffolk Walsh Hair and Makeup was the artist for the wedding. During Jade and Mike’s engagement shoot, Michelle also provided hair and makeup. We took several great shots of her spray setting the girls’ hair, sunlight gleaming through the fine mist.

Jade had a pair of amazing shoes with a zipper back, and we incorporated them into the ring photos. The matching rings were unique, both featuring intricate lacy designs. Next we paired her engagement ring with several plump roses. Dahlia Floral design provided her beautiful bouquet.
We photographed Jade’s dress, glowing with the sun behind it. Jade wore a touching memorial necklace for Jack, and they lit a candle for him. It burned throughout the day in his memory.

Their Ceremony at The Azuridge Estate Hotel Grounds

Jade walked in through the double doors, over a path and across the arching bridge way. The path wound down onto a platform, where she and Mike saw each other for the first time. Across the pond sat the guests.

Officiant Tamara Jones did a fantastic job with the ceremony. Despite the thunder clouds heading our way, the sun stayed out for the duration of the ceremony which was perfect. Jade and Mike exchanged touching personal vows and signed their documents and after the Ceremony they took a moment simply to be in each other’s company.

The Family Photos in The Gazebo

We then moved into the family formals. It began to rain, but the incredible staff at Azuridge were quick and they sheltered us from the downpour with umbrellas and helped us into the giant gazebo on the Eastside of the grounds. Inside the gazebo, the newlyweds gave a toast to their family and friends, thanking them for being part of their day. While we set up for family photos and snapped a few shots of the toasts the weather decided to toss us a curve ball, as it started to hail.

The Creative Formals in The Creative Formals at Azuridge Estate Hotel

After the family formals we returned to Sapphire Hall. We framed the bride and groom with the rain covered window. They looked out across the courtyard, and the set-up yielded amazing results. The heavy rain added an incredibly rich texture and atmosphere to the photos.

In the main lounge, which is normally the restaurant, we took some grand photographs of the couple in front of the large floor to ceiling windows. One of the great things about rain is that it makes for excellent reflection shots. Jade and Mike braved the weather for some of these images. We also got several shots of the newlyweds under a large umbrella, and some intimate photos of them huddled under the overhanging roof.

Back in the Manor Guest House we set upon a gorgeous staircase. Here we photographed the bride and groom, along with maid of honor Amy and best man Mark. Azuridge Estate Hotel is famous for their gorgeous water tower, so naturally, we headed there next. Several epic shots of the winding tower later, we headed back in for the reception.

The Tate Reception in the Carnelian Dining Room

The Dinner provided by the talented culinary staff at Azuridge

The reception began with an absolutely sensational dinner. The beef, chicken, and seafood plates were indescribable. The newlyweds had a honeymooners table, their own private space with a plated dinner. Everyone surrounded them at their own tables. After dinner, we treated the guests to Jade and Mike’s same day slideshow of images we took during the day.

Twilight Pictures as The Sun Sets Over Azuridge

The most picturesque sunset arrived after the storm. We took it as an opportunity for gorgeous shots of the newlyweds. We took several photos in front of the main building, where we framed the bride and groom with the roaring torches on the decks of the estate. Back at the Manor House, Mike arranged for special coloured lights to match the wedding colours. Purple and green hues lit the columns and pillars. We used the light as a backdrop for the entire wedding party.

Dancing The Night Away to The Tunes on Their iPod

We returned to the reception for their first dance’s. The rest of the night consisted of the dance, where the party lasted long into the evening. The dance rounded off an amazing day.
